In this situation, I would not feel obligated to give a gift. The only exception would be if the birthday kid is a family member or this birthday kid is a very close friend. In those situations, most likely, you will have the opportunity to see the birthday kid on a separate occassion and can give a present at that time.

Tea Party

Children’s Tea Parties:

This is a really fun party to throw for your 4 to 10 year old daughter! Usually it is a time for dress-up sophistication for your little girl, and it is also an opportunity for some etiquette lessons…these can be learned in a fun and festive environment.

On the invitation, ask the guest to dress-up in a wonderful outfit…ask for them to put on a dress, good shoes, some special jewelry, maybe even lip gloss. Also, ask for the guest to bring along a farorite teddy bear whom will be their guest at the tea…this especially works well when they are little girls, 4-7 years of age.
