Fido Invited Too?

shutterstock_99213341I am hosting my kid’s birthday party this weekend and there will be 10 kids attending.  We have never had this many kids in the house before, and I am very concerned about our two dogs.  They are really friendly, but they can be a bit rowdy.  When they hear all of the kids, they are definitely going to want to be a part of the fun.  Should I let them be out among the kids, and, if not, what do I do with them while the party is going on?  I don’t want them barking the whole time while they are in another room as that will be difficult.

Guess Who’s Turning 50?

The Cat in the Hat, of course!!  Everyone has their day and the infamous Cat in the Hat is no exception!  If you would like to learn more about his birthday celebration, check out his official Birthday Website.  There is a full section for parents, grandparents, and caregivers to help their kids celebrate this grand day.  Check out the printables and other activities available to mark the day.

I especially like the idea that your kids can send the Cat in the Hat a birthday e-card, and for every card he receives Random House Children’s Books will donate a book to First Book.  How exciting, and the cards are interactive with the kids being able to color in their birthday wish and add their name and state that they are from.

Keeping the Noise Down @ Kids’ Parties

I live in a condo, and am about to have six 5 year olds here for my kid’s party.  Noise is often a problem in our building and I don’t want to disturb my neighbors during the party.  How can I keep the noise level minimal during my 90 minute party?

It’s Low Key, but Should It Be This Low Key?

shutterstock_27090142I just celebrated my daughter’s first birthday party. We don’t make a huge celebration out of this year because it is more for us that for her. Rather, we go all out for #2. Anyway, we simply had some cake and ice cream and our immediate family over for dinner. What really upset me, however, was that none of our extended family bothered to remember her birthday. I wasn’t expecting presents, but I did think people would call and/or send a card? Am I wrong to have had this expectation when we didn’t celebrate in a BIG way?

I definitely get that you didn’t want to have a huge birthday party to celebrate your kid’s first birthday. Really anything goes when it comes to that year, especially since the celebration is more for the parents than the kid. Sounds like you were very happy with how you celebrated. Great!

Robin’s Hood Party Tale

What a favorite and classic tale. Robin Hood. And it may be a favorite story for your kid. If so, it would be a fun theme to build a party around. It can also be considered a “Renaissance Party,” since this is the time frame that the story takes place in.

Invite the kids to the party with thin parchment paper that is rolled into a scroll and tied with a ribbon. Inside provide all of the party details, and attach a feather for added festivity.

Star Wars’ Games

In a Galaxy Far, Far Away, the Force is with You!  Can’t you just feel it?  It’s a truly classic movie, not only the trilogy from the 70s, but the more recent one as well has spawned a whole new interested generation in this galactic epic!  With characters like Luke Skywaker, Yoda, and Darth Vader…it’s not a surprise that kids may be asking you for this party.

If you are looking for ideas beyond donning the kids with light sabers, check out the ideas below:
