A Blind Pedi and Mani…

Want to make your spa party for the special birthday girl a bit more challenging and fun? Instead of having them give each other manicures and pedicures with their eyes open, have them close their eyes instead. Here’s how it works:

Pair up the kids in teams of two, and each girl has the chance to receive a blind mani and pedi and give one. Blindfold the person who will be giving the mani and pedi…make sure they have the bottle of polish on hand, as well as can feel their partner’s hands and feet to know where they are even while blindfolded. Also, make sure to have old towels laying underneath the partners to catch any spills, etc. The blindfolded person must paint ten toenails and fingernails. Let’s see how good they look. Afterwards, the partner is blindfolded and treats their friend to the same service!

Smash Cake: When to Serve?

j0422320 I am hosting two first birthday parties for my daughter; one with family at home and one with friends at a park. Should I have a smash cake at both parties, or skip it at the park?

Smash Cake is the precious tradition of baking your one-year-old birthday child her very own cake that she can do whatever she likes with…mainly it makes for a great photo that will be treasured for years to come.  Often people make two cakes on the first birthday occasion…one to share with friends and family that looks beautiful and may match the party theme and a second one with the birthday child’s name on it that is meant to be destroyed by her.

Wishing Upon A Star First Birthday Theme

When you wish upon a star…what a beautiful theme for a party. My girlfriend who is going to have a baby any day now, has decorated the baby’s bedroom in a stars and moons pattern and it is beautiful. If you have been drawn to this for your baby’s first your baby’s first birthday party and you want to have a “Wish Upon A Star” theme, here are a few ideas for decorating and goodies…

For a first birthday, having your adult guests write a “wish” for your child would be very special, especially on that day in the future when your child reads all of those good wishes many years later. As a centerpiece, place a large bowl or cauldron-like bowl in the center of the table. Have the blank wish cards either at the party table for people to write on or hand out as your guests enter the party and they can fill out their wish cards at any time during the party and place them in the special bowl on the table.
