Beaded Flip Flops

beaded-flip-flopsIf you are looking to have kids bead flip flops, here is a great resource to check out for how to bead the flip flops: Jo-Anne’s  has a how-to for beaded flip flops. Just make sure that if the kids are going to do this activity they are old enough to handle a needle (most likely pre-teens and teens), and that the activity is well-supervised.

If they are younger, you may want to make them yourself and hand them out as a party favor at the party, or buy the cheapie ones with the wider plastic straps and have them use fabric glue (or hot glue if there are enough adults to supervise) to attach rhinestones and plastic gems onto the straps to fake the beading.

Pinky Dinky Doo

pdd2Yeseroonie! Positoonie! Perhaps you know this expression from Noggin’s program, Pinky Dinky Doo program. Pinky is a precocious seven year old girl who loves to tell stories, sing songs, draw pictures, and speak big words. She is helpful and kind to her little brother, Tyler, and her pet, Mr. Guinea Pig. I know she has taken the preschool world by storm, and so you may find your little kid asking for a Pinky Dinky Doo party.

The basic premise of the show is that Pinky helps her little brother, Tyler, peacefully solve his problems by thinking of a great story. Together, they sing a silly song and head over to the story box. Here’s where Pinky doodles pictures on the box with chalk to bring her story alive. Mr. Guinea Pig heralds the use of key words throughout the program with his trumpet as well. The final dilemma is always solved by “thinking big” and her head grows bigger and bigger like a balloon when this is happening. Finally, it comes right out!

Lots O’Lego Fun

Building. Life is all about it! One of the best toy companies out there that helps kids use their imagination and fun tools to build is Lego! Lego has been around since 1932, and is the sixth largest manufacturer of kids’ toys. Impressive! All of us have played with Legos at some point, or at least watched other kids play with them.

You can build a really great theme around Legos for your next kids’ party. The official Lego site has a parents page, which can give you inspiration for activities to do with your kids at parties, and beyond! Check out their great Let’s Play and Imagination Builders sections.

Bubble Fun!

shutterstock_1943654“Bubbles” is a wonderful theme for a small child’s second or third birthday party. It’s also a great theme for summer, but may not be ideal for an indoor party during colder months for obvious reasons.
