Have you met little Lucy yet, and all of her friends at the zoo ~ Georgiana the Giraffe, Nelson the Elephant, the Monkeys Tickles and Giggles, Molly the Hippo, Kevin the Crocodile, Toby the Tortoise & Boris the Bear! Lucy lives @ 64 Zoo Lane and is lucky to have her animal friends gather around and entertain her each night with words and stories. Lucky Lucy!
Your child may just love animals too and want a Zoo-themed party for her next birthday. If so, take inspiration from 64 Zoo Lane and put together a party based on these characters!
- Check out the printables at Noggin where the kids can color their favorite Zoo Lane characters. I particularly like Lucy in the party hat for a fun party printable.
- Play Lucy Says like Simon Says.
- Using a turtle stuffed animal or any of Lucy’s animal friends, Play Hot Toby like Hot Potato.
- The animals make up stories each night for Lucy, have your guests make up stories. Give them a starter line and let each kid add another piece to the story. They can also act out their part too. Make sure to record the entire story and have the kids tell it completely with their actions to bring it together. If parents are attending the party, have them perform for the audience.
- Make up cards with the zoo animals on each one. Make up more than one card for each animal in order to play Memory using the zoo animals.
- Have a Monkey relay race. Divide the kids into two teams, and place a bowl of small bananas at the other end of the race. Call one group the Tickles and the other group the Giggles and tape monkey tales onto everyone. Each kid must race to the bowl, eat a banana and return to the team for the next kid to do. First team done, wins!
- Have the kids make animal sounds like the friends on Zoo Lane. They can also walk like the animals too.
- Make different animal tails out of cloth or paper and tape them on each kid. Have the kids try and grab as many tails as they can!
- Play Animal Charades.
- For goodies, hand out boxes of iced animal crackers with a sign on it that says, “Do Not Feed the Animals.”
- For the menu, serve juice boxes, animal crackers, chicken tenders in animal shapes with dipping sauces.
- Make a Brownie Zoo Cake.
