The Hugawugs are a colorful group of characters that are ready to become your child’s best friend! The books and plush toys serve to not only entertain your child, but also encourage him to play, learn, and have fun together as a family. The stuffed animals are brightly colored, soft, and huggable and they match books that teach children ABC’s, 1-2-3’s, and more.
The characters also can serve as a wonderful party for children ages 3-5-years-old. The colors that the Hugawugs use are all bright, bold, primary colors. Use these types of colors, perhaps your child’s favorite, to create a party room full of fun. Bright yellow, purple, pink, and green are all wonderful choices. You can also use this color scheme to create a hand-made invitation inviting the guests to a party of silly fun!
For your activities, take inspiration from the Hugawugs Books. One activity is to read several of the books, but, of course, the kids will want to be active, so bring some of the activities alive from the Hugawugs books. Some easy ideas include:
· Playing with building blocks.
· Painting pictures together. Kids can even paint with chocolate if you don’t mind the mess.
· Dance to silly music and ask the kids to wiggle their ears and tap their feet.
· Have items available for dress up. Once the kids are dressed up, have a silly parade around the party room or yard.
· Have the kids share glasses of milk and bump their noses together like Bailey and Jasper.
· Have the kids make silly faces and smiles at one another. Award prizes!
· Play some counting games with peanuts and jelly beans. (Be careful with peanut allergies!)
· Decorate a batch of cupcakes together and let the kids eat them as the party cake!
· If it is a beautiful day outdoors, take up some suggestions from the Hugawugs and enjoy: chasing butterflies, capturing bugs, flying kites, simple running races in the yard, playing on a jungle gym, and whatever else seems like silly fun!
Purchase ABC or 123 cookie cutters and create a menu that is educational too. Cut out and create sandwiches, cheese slices, Jell-O jigglers, and more to match some of the concepts the Hugawugs love!
Send the kids home with simple, fun items including tops, whistles, and jump ropes to encourage play and silly fun long after the party.
