Are you having other parents attend your kids’ party and are wondering how to keep them entertained?

Well, you won’t have to do much as most parents understand that they are there to hang out with the kids and will be happy to see other parents that they most likely know, through school, daycare, or the neighborhood. Really, as long as you serve good snacks and/or meal, you will be pretty much set.

Still, if you want to take it to the next level and involve the parents a bit more, here are some ideas:
If you are having a Luau, have the adults wear their Hawaiian attire and give out a prize for the craziest shirt. Include the adults in a limbo competition!

If you are serving ice cream or having an ice cream theme, have the adults match Ben & Jerry’s flavors with their ice cream names. Not as easy as you would think! You could also have an ice-cream eating competition.

Include the adults in the relay races. The kids will love to see their parents running around.

If you are having a bug themed party, have the parents help the kids find the bugs and also print out facts on the different bugs and have the parents read these to their kids as they look for the bugs!

If the kids will make a craft, have the adults make one as well, and/or help their kids making the craft.

You can ask the parents to pitch in and help with the party. Give a Dad the video camera to record the fun, have another help with serving the cake and ice cream.

If you are hiring an entertainer, make sure to ask him if his show will also be fun for the parents as well. If they do, have them explain.

Usually kids’ parties go anywhere for an hour or two. Most parents don’t expect to be entertained during the party, and realize that it will be focused on the children. Still, they will enjoy observing all of their fun. If you have included them in some of the activities, or put together a word game just for the adults, that will be even more fun for the parents!

Enjoy!
