Kids love Uniqua, Pablo, Tyrone, Tasha, and Austin…who head to their backyard and turn it into a wonderful world of fantasy from climbing mountains and beyond…
Nick Jr. has created a wonderfully educational and imaginative program for little kids. So, if your kid is looking for some “Backyardigan” fun at his next birthday, check out Nick Jr’s site for their Backyardigan Western Party Ideas.
With recipes, cake ideas, printables, and activities this will be a very good resource for organizing a party along the theme.
Purchase your Backyardigan Birthday Party Supplies from Birthday in a Box to kick off your planning.
Other ideas for Backyardian Fun: Hang bright color balloons and streamers and you can either purchase table ware that matches the theme, or purchase brightly colored table ware to match your balloons and streamers. If you have a Backyardian Stuffed Animal, it can serve as a centerpiece to the table.
Purchase a Backyardian CD for party music! For favors, you can provide the kids with either Backyardigan activity books and a fresh small box of crayons and/or a bottle of Backyardigans Bubble Tumblers.
This site has a very good selection of Backyardigans “stuff” to bring your theme alive! The Backyardigans are constantly spinning wonderful worlds of fantasy in their own backyards…it would seem that this party would be best done in your own backyard and can take on any number of the themes that these characters have spun:
- The Heart of the Jungle, i.e. a Jungle Party
- Riding the Range: i.e. a Western Party. See the Nick Jr. site mentioned above.
- Castaways, i.e. a Luau/Island Party
- Surf’s Up, i.e. a Surfing Party
So, by throwing this party in your own backyard, playing the theme music of the show, decorating with bright and bold colors, and letting the kids spin their own fantasy worlds, either along one of the themes already done by the show, or some other fantasy world that your kid is interested in…you will have lots of Backyardigan fun!!

If they are old enough you could TRY and organize a dance-a-long to the theme tune. It would make a funny video at least!
