The Dark Knight is a great movie and character to build a party theme around. If you think about the upcoming Halloween season, Batman and the Joker will also be popular costume choices too! So, to gear up for your Batman parties and celebrations, take some inspiration in these ideas:
Using a bat cookie cutter, cut out bats using black construction paper and include all of your party details on the black bat using a silver gel pen.
If you are able to hand-deliver your party invitations, purchase small, inexpensive flashlights and tape a small bat shape over the lens to create your own Bat signal flashlight. Tie a tag to the flashlight including all of your party details.
Create a Dark Knight mood by using the colors black, gray and yellow for your streamers, balloons, and party ware for your table.

Hang paper bats from your ceiling.
Create a Bat Cave out of a large appliance box, black and gray sheets, and Styrofoam balls painted steel gray to look like rocks in the cave.
Have the kids make their own paper airplanes and then turn your cave on its side and let the kids have to fly their bat planes into the bat cave.
Decorate your walls with Batman posters and masks, which the kids can take down and wear during the party.
This is a great gathering to face paint the kids as they arrive at the party. They can choose to be painted as The Dark Knight or the Joker, so have both available. Hire a teenager to do the face-painting.
Have the kids visit the bat cave and play with weird things to learn about the unusual, i.e. slime, bouncy balls, etc.
Have the kids build their own gadgets. You can use any type of toy you have that kids can use to build, i.e. Legos.
Play Follow the Joker, as you would Follow the Leader.
Have the kids pull cards out of a deck of cards…keep the Jokers in the Deck…whoever pulls a Joker is the one to be followed.
Create a Dark Knight Obstacle Course that the kids must complete quickly in order to train and increase their speed and agility. Anything can serve as an obstacle course,, i.e. chairs, tables, hula hoops, pillows, sleeping bags, etc. Play the movie’s music while the kids take on this obstacle course.
For the menu, use your bat cookie cutter and make bat Jell-O Jigglers (the dark grape variety will work well), sandwiches with classic fillings, cookies iced black, etc. Have the menu served by The Dark Knight’s butler for authenticity!
Serve Bat Cream Sandwiches, using the bat cookies you make, place softened ice cream between two and serve this sweet treat.

To top off your party, have the kids break into a Batmobile Pinata for added fun. The treats that fall out can serve as the party favor.
