On March 24, 2009, Disney is releasing Bolt on DVD. This is a great time for a Bolt movie-viewing or birthday party. Check out Amazon if you are looking to purchase!
With John Travolta playing Bolt and Miley Cyrus playing Penny, Bolt’s owner, this family-friendly film is a whirlwind adventure. Bolt, a superstar in his own right, believes he has super powers until he lands in NYC and needs to get back home to his owner—without Hollywood’s magic. Luckily, he has two great companions to help him along: Mittens, the cat, and Rhino, the hamster. Each of the characters grow during this great adventure!
This is a great movie to inspire a party for your kids, especially if they love animals and some Disney magic!
The party supplies to match this theme can be found at Celebrate Express
You could also pull this theme together with bright blue, yellow, and solid-white balloons, streamers, and tableware. Also place candy bones around the party table for added decoration.
For the Invitation:
Purchase a box of extra-large Milk Bones, and use ribbon to tie small cards with the invitation details written on them to the bones. Hand-deliver your Bolt party invitations to your guests.
For the Activities:
Bolt has a super bark, which he uses often. When the kids arrive at the party, have them give their best barks before they can enter. Later on, hold a barking contest. See who can bark the longest, loudest, softest, etc.
Rhino loves his hamster ball and rolls around in it throughout the movie. In honor of Rhino, have the kids play a series of ball games, such as rolling a ball to one end of the room and back together (first one done wins!) or doing somersaults from one end of the room to the other. Amazon has some Bolt bounce balls (four in a pack)

Make a batch of dog bone cookies and let the kids decorate them with frosting and candies.
Bolt is a super hero dog in TV land. Think about all of the fun things dogs do, and ask the kids to do them as well: running, jumping, sitting, staying, shaking paws, barking, rolling over, etc. Make them all into super competitors, and create an obstacle course for the kids to do to win a prize!
Another fun idea for slightly older kids is a Bolt video game competition. Divide the kids into teams to keep it interactive, and put a time limit on it, so the video game is not the focus of the party.

For the party favors, send the kids home with a dog hero favor box.
