thanksgiving-2008-002I know we have featured a puppy party plan on Peppers and Pollywogs, but how about a party for all of those kids who love kitties and cats? Now that I live with Mittens the cat (her picture to the right!), I think it’s about time we discussed kitty and cat party ideas for our feline fans!

For your Kitty Party Invitation:

Create a Cat Headband Invitaiton.  Using plastic headbands, attach cat ears to the top using any color of card stock for the ears.  Using card stock, cut out small squares and write your party details directly on the card and attach to the headband.  These invitations can either be hand-delivered or mailed in large envelopes.  Make sure to requests your guests wear their cat headbands with them to the upcoming party.  It will be a MEOW of a good time!

For your Kitty Party Decorations:

Check out the Glamour Cats Party Supplies at Celebrate Express.  Perfect for your kitty party.

Use stuffed cat animals as a table centerpiece.

To keep it budget friendly, use solid party supplies along with the themed goods for the party room and table.

Create a Cat Mural by cutting out pictures of cats and pictures of things related to cats.  Put it together, or this could even be done as a party activity, and hang on a party wall.

If you have a cat, decorate with your cat’s toys placed all around the party room.

Place kitty paw prints outside the front entrance of your home and leading into the party room.

Place a sign on your front door, “MEOW!” (Which is Welcome in Kitty Language!)  Other fun signs may include: No Dogs Allowed!

For your Kitty Party Activities:

Upon arrival to the party, have a face painter on hand to paint whiskers on the guests’ faces.  In addition make sure they are wearing their headbands!

As the kids wait for everyone to arrive, if you choose to create a Cat Mural as a party activity, have magazines and newspapers laying out with child-friendly scissors for the kids to cut out cat pictures to add to the mural.

Create Yarn Balls.  Let the kids roll different colors of yarn around small styrofoam balls.  A great craft and a cute cat toy to take home!

Alternatively, create Cat Collars using felt and all sorts of glitter, stickers, and markers to create their own glamorous kitty collars.

Spoof the classic kids’ party games to make them thematic:

  • Cat May I? like Mother May I?
  • Kitty, Kitty, Cat like Duck, Duck, Goose
  • Pin the Collar on the Kitty

Using fresh kitty litter, have the kids dig for small rubber mice.  You will want to use a larger area than a kitty litter box, so a small sandbox or pool would work well.

Play Copy Cat!  The birthday child shows off her moves and everyone else must be a copy cat!

For your Kitty Party Menu:

To make it thematic, serve your party menu out of small cat food bowls!

Serve all of the favorites that kitty cats love including bite-sized tuna fish sandwiches, cut out into fishy shapes with a cookie cutter, goldfish crackers, and gummy fish.

Make sure to serve milk, a kitty cat favorite, but serve it in flavors: chocolate, strawberry, or both?

Make up a batch of Kitty Cat Cupcakes to serve with your milk.

For the Kitty Cat Party Favor:

Send the kids home with their cat collars, headbands, and a little baggie of Cat Chow, i.e. Chex Mix.

Have a meow of a good time!

Say It!
