Treasure Hunt Fun!

There are many ways to organize a treasure hunt for kids at the next party from the ages of 2 on up.  For some ideas, have a look below:

If you can get sets of plastic Easter eggs and place the clues on bright colored paper ~ for the small ones place pictures on the clues and they have to find that picture to find their next clue.  For the older kids, write riddles that lead them to different spots to find the next clue.  A general rule of thumb is that you should have as many clues as the age of the child…so if 7 years old, 7 clues, etc.

As examples, for a picture clue, put a picture of a bath tub, and the kids will find the bath tub and then the next clue.  For a riddle at an outdoor farm, “I am where the needle can never be found!” (I.E. a haystack)

Treasure Hunt Clue Cards

If you are planning a “Treasure Hunt” for your next party, you will most likely need some clue cards to lead the kids from each of the points to eventually find the treasure. Of course, you can make your own, or check out FamilyFun.com’s Treasure Hunt Clue Cards. You can just print them off of your computer on any type of paper, write your clue, and off you go.

Cranium also has some ready-made Treasure Hunt Clue Cards for you to easily print, write, and hand out at the party. If you want to make your own, they can be as simple as using construction paper and cutting them out into different shapes and sizes and writing your clues to writing the clues in fanciful long-hand, burning the edges a bit, and rolling them up into little scrolls which unveil the next clue…very good idea for a pirate party. Yes, definitely, you will need Treasure Hunt Clue Cards to get the Hunt going! Enjoy developing the clues or use some of our clue rhymes!
