“Bubbles” is a wonderful theme for a small child’s second or third birthday party. It’s also a great theme for summer, but may not be ideal for an indoor party during colder months for obvious reasons.

Transformers are too cool! These popular toys have inspired a TV show and two movies. The first movie was released in 2008, and now a second movie, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, is set to hit the big screen on June 24, 2009. So, this is going to be a fun and popular party theme again this year!
Transformers is all about the Autobots (the good guys!) v. the Decepticons (the bad guys!), with humans somewhere in the middle. I have to admit, I grew up with these toys and played with them for hours with my little brother. The coolest one, of course, was Optimus Prime (the big eighteen-wheeler truck). He was a good guy, but we just wanted to play and didn’t care which side he was on!

Pixar released another fantastic movie: Up! It’s the story of a 78-year-old balloon salesman, Carl Fredericksen, who has dreamed of adventure his entire life. He decides to go on a grand one when he attaches thousands of helium balloons to his home to go up, up, and away on a fabulous journey to South America. Not until he’s in the air does he discover stowaway Russell, an 8-year-old wilderness explorer who is completely equipped to handle the outdoors (but has never left the city). The two meet a delightful cast of characters on this journey of a lifetime.
Given the fantastic use of balloons in this computer-animated 3-D film, this is a perfect movie to build a kids’ party theme around. Just think balloons, balloons, and more balloons!
