Easy Decoration: Mini Water Balloons

If it is a particularly windy day and your kids’ party is outdoors, and you can see that the tablecloth is about to fly off the table, a particularly useful idea is to fill and tie mini water balloons and attach them to the ends of the tablecloth. They look festive and will do the trick quite nicely. If you have a cake outdoors on the party table and have a towel casually thrown over the pan to keep bugs away, attaching the mini water balloons to the ends of the towel will keep it in place despite the wind as well.

If you have extras or want an additional festive touch, attach a few mini water balloons to the straws in the kids’ drinks. They will love these and, most likely, will enjoy popping them.

Same thematic party ware for adults too?

I have invited equal number of adults and kids to my upcoming party?  Do I need to use my thematice party ware, i.e. napkins, plates, and cups, for the adults as well as the kids?  Can the adults just use plain white paper ware at the party or would this look odd?

It is a wonderful decoration to match your table ware to your party theme.  Kids will enjoy this added festive touch.  Often when you purchase these items, i.e. themed napkins, plates, and cups, there are more in these packets than the amount of kids you have invited.  Or, one packet turns out to not be enough for your guests and you need one or two additional place settings and are forced to buy another entire package, which again leaves you with additional items to use for this theme.  If this is the case, definitely use the extra party ware items for your adult guests. Polka Dot Tablecloth

Here are some ideas for a great polka dot tablecloth:

  • Plum Party has a great polka dot tablecloth with multi-colored dots. This would be really good for a circus party theme or a polka dot-themed party. The price is $12.50. Have a look!
  • Purchase a plain white paper tablecloth and draw your own polka dots to match your theme. This is a little less expensive, but will consume more time.
  • Or, you can purchase a plain white paper tablecloth, and have the kids draw polka dots on it as a party activity while they wait for cake and ice cream to be served. This will keep them busy, and be fun.
  • If you don’t want to draw your own polka dots, why not head to an office supply store and purchase little round stickers? They are often sold in white and multi-colors. Mark “Xes” all over your white tablecloth, either in a random patterns or in a specific pattern you like, and then stick the colored circles all over the “X” spots.

Here are some more Polka Dot Party ideas.

Mix -n- Match Decorations

So, you have your theme, you have logged onto one of the sites that is great for party “stuff,” and now found your theme with all of the trimmings…but the price tag is out of your budget for every piece to match, i.e. the napkns, plates, cups, etc. Can you do anything to cut down on these types of birthday party expenses?

Why not mix -n- match? You could buy the plates in the theme that you are planning and then you could accent this this with a primary color napkin and cup that you can pick up at the Dollar Store or Target for very little money. It will look really nice and it is prefectly fine to mix and match the items.
