Everyone remembers the fun the Cat in the Hat brought to two kids one rainy afternoon while their mother was out. It was quite the party, and luckily he had all of those cool vehicles to clean up the mess! OK, you may not be completely interested in having your home turned upside down, but the theme is sooo cute for a party.

You can even include activities from Dr. Seuss’ other books. It will make the party even more fun. As an example, you may have a Cat in the Hat theme, but serve “green eggs and ham!”

Have you seen the news that Alice in Wonderland is coming to a theater near you this March? It’s Tim Burton’s version of this classic tale starring Johnny Depp as its very own Mad Hatter.  Check out the preview here. Always a timeless story for children of all ages.

The delightful Alice in Wonderland Mad Hatter Tea Party is often a popular theme for a birthday party. If your daughter is interested in a tea party, but has to invite all of the boys in the classroom, a Mad Hatter tea party theme may work well.

Is one of your favorite stories from childhood The Three Little Pigs?  It’s a classic tale of a wolf and his three little pig friends, one of whom outwits the wolf and saves his brothers too.  If your child loves pigs and this classic story, this would make a great birthday party theme for your child and his friends.

For a party invitation, I love DIY pig cards that will be perfect for this party.  Using square heavy card stock fold it into a large enough card to place a pink medium-sized circle glued atop the front of the card.  Embellish your pig with a snout, eyes, eyelashes, and ears by cutting out black and white shapes to make your pigs.  Write all of the party details on the inside of the card.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians The Lightening Thief hits movie theaters this month and looks like quite the adventure and just in time for the Winter Olympics too.  What a great movie outing this movie will be for school-aged children.  The Percy Jackson series of books are full of adventure and largely based on Greek mythology.

Wow…I stumbled upon a wonderfully bold and brilliant party on Kara’s Party Ideas (who gives total credit to one charming party!)  based on an all-time favorite story and doll, Raggedy Ann.  Aren’t these aqua and red colors absolutely amazing together to make Raggedy Ann pop?  The party table full of so many yummy sweet treats really creates a wonderfully fun, whimsical feel to such a classic character.  Love this!

This has inspired me to think up some party activities for this fabulous theme.  Stay tuned!
