Barbie’s 12 Dancing Princesses Party Theme

Barbie is such a popular toy for kids, and the Barbie in the 12 Dancing Princesses movie underscores that! Ever since its DVD release, it has been very popular, especially for kids’ birthdays. If you are looking to put together this particular Barbie theme, here are ideas to bring it alive:

Barbie stars as the beautiful princess, Genevieve. Have the birthday girl play the role of Genevieve at the party, and invite 11 princesses to join her. Hopefully, all of them will attend so you have the full set!

Chuggington Party Ideas

Chuggington Party IdeasDo your preschoolers love the show Chuggington?  New in the United States, young children are quickly falling in love with these train engines called Chuggers.  The show follows the adventures of three main characters: Wilson, Brewster, and Koko.  Set in the modern world, the colors and animation graphics are truly stellar and pop off the screen. It’s set to become very popular and is a perfect train party theme that includes these lovable chugger characters.

For your Chuggington Party Invitation:
Using bright square pieces of card stock, print off pictures from the Chuggington website and glue to the front of the card. Inside or on the reverse side, write all of your party details.

Cat in the Hat Party

Cat in the HatEveryone remembers the fun the Cat in the Hat brought to two kids one rainy afternoon while their mother was out. It was quite the party, and luckily he had all of those cool vehicles to clean up the mess! OK, you may not be completely interested in having your home turned upside down, but the theme is sooo cute for a party.

You can even include activities from Dr. Seuss’ other books. It will make the party even more fun. As an example, you may have a Cat in the Hat theme, but serve “green eggs and ham!”

Hide and Seek Toddler Fun

If you are looking for a fun, inexpensive party to organize for your two to three-year-old child, you can take the simple game of “Hide & Seek” and build a complete set of party activities around the idea of hiding and seeking…loads of fun and low-key. Parties can be so simple for kids this age…take a look at the Hide & Seek Fun to be had:

  1. Play Hide & Go Seek ~ The Classic Game, of course;
  2. If adults will be attending the party, reverse it and have the kids look for their parents;
  3. Provide toddler-sized boxes that are either pre-decorated by you or that the toddlers can decorate themselves. What a great craft activity! Have them use markers, crayons, etc. to make their own “Jack In the Box.” (This can also be the take home goody from the party!)
  4. Play Jack In The Box…have the kids climb into the box, and duck down so as not to be seen. Play music, and let the kids pop up just as an Jack In The Box would do.
  5. Hide a Pinata that the kids must find in order to enjoy the fun.
  6. Have a treasure hunt for chocolate gold coins.
  7. Make a mock tent using a large cardboard box and a sheet. Let each kid hide in the tent and pop out surprising the others. You can ask them to pop out using their imagination and become a lion, a dog, a cat, etc.
  8. Give them boxes of Cracker Jacks to enjoy finding their prizes.
  9. Hide candy treats in a batch of cupcakes. The kids will discover the surprise as they enjoy their cake.
  10. Play “I Spy.”
  11. Read some books that have flaps to reveal hidden pictures.
  12. Have the kids make creations using Play Dough..hide some small prizes in each little Play Dough jar for the kids to discover.

A Three Little Pigs Party

Three Little Pigs PartyIs one of your favorite stories from childhood The Three Little Pigs?  It’s a classic tale of a wolf and his three little pig friends, one of whom outwits the wolf and saves his brothers too.  If your child loves pigs and this classic story, this would make a great birthday party theme for your child and his friends.

For a party invitation, I love DIY pig cards that will be perfect for this party.  Using square heavy card stock fold it into a large enough card to place a pink medium-sized circle glued atop the front of the card.  Embellish your pig with a snout, eyes, eyelashes, and ears by cutting out black and white shapes to make your pigs.  Write all of the party details on the inside of the card.

Ready for Takeoff Party

Ready for Takeoff PartyIs your child a fan of airplanes and going up, up, and away?  If so, you may want to take a peak at Amy Atlas‘ amazing Ready for Takeoff party that she threw for her son.  Love the “J” hats and place mats, as well as the cool yellow color scheme that Amy used.  Absolutely lovely.

The airplane cupcakes are also precious.  Looking for some inspiration for a travel-related parties, this is it!
