Where The Wild Things Are Party Ideas

An adaptation of Where_The_Wild_Things_AreMaurice Sendak’s beloved childhood book Where the Wild Things Are hit movie theaters recently. How awesome is this movie? Check out the trailer here. As you may know, Where the Wild Things Are is the story of Max, a little boy who is sent to bed without dinner for being naughty. Once in his room, he creates his own world: a forest with wild creatures that crown him as their ruler. The story is full of creativity, imagination, and love, and it will be awesome to see director Spike Jonze bring it to life on the big screen.

Where the Wild Things Are would make an excellent party theme full of creatures, mischief, and wild things for Halloween this year.  And if  you somehow have made it this far without reading the book, check it out on Amazon.  It is truly a classic in the best sense of the word. You can also get the Where the Wild Things Are soundtrack and let your kids do a wild dance.

Fantastic Mr. Fox Party Ideas

Fantastic Mr FoxDid you love Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr. Fox book as a child?  I loved this book, especially his craftiness in getting dinner for his family!  It’s a timeless classic that is now being released as a movie on November 25, 2009.  What a great Thanksgiving movie outing with your children and their friends.

If you want to carry Fantastic Mr. Fox fun to a party theme, what a great idea!  Even if you are just looking to keep your kids busy during the holiday weekend and their cousins and friends too, Mr. Fox certainly can inspire some crafty ideas.

Wizard of Oz Party Plan for Kids

I was always scared to death when I watched “The Wizard of Oz” when I was a kid.  In particular, the scenes with the Wicked Witch of the West had me hiding under the covers.  It isn’t a movie to show very small kids, as it will be scary, but those who are 7 years old and up would have a lot of fun not only coming together to watch this classic, but also enjoying some thematic activities to enjoy while gathered.

Did you know it’s the 70th Anniversary of the Wizard of Oz?  You can find the Wizard of Oz 70th Anniversary Ultimate Collector’s Edition at Amazon for your family’s viewing pleasure and to have playing during your upcoming party.

Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs Movie

meatballsmovieCloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, the beloved book by Judi Barrett is due to become a movie!  Based on what I saw during the trailer, this movie will be exciting and fun!

Flint, the main character, is an aspiring inventor who comes up with a great invention that converts water into food and makes it rain down from the sky. The community of Swallow Falls must be prepared to eat the delicious hamburgers, gelatin desserts, and other delectable treats that fall from the clouds. Of course, this invention may go awry, and Flint, along with weather intern Sam and the rest of the cast, will have to save the day.

Star Trek Party

aceofcakestrekcakeHave you seen Star Trek yet?  I am not a Trekkie by any means, but I absolutely loved this movie.  The story was fun and the characters exciting.  As I sat through it a second time, I thought it would make an excellent kids’ party theme if your children are into Star Trek itself or even as a fun space theme.  Lots to inspire a fun party.

For a party invitation, using grey heavy card stock, cut out an SS Enterprise ship and place the party details on one side of the invitation.  Use thematic invitation language, asking them to Report for Duty (Party Start Time) and where they should meet, i.e. the Situation Room.

G Force Movie Party Ideas

G Force Movie Party IdeasDisney’s G Force is all about a team of hamsters who, supposedly, have super powers and are trained by the government to gather intelligence and solve crimes.  I saw this movie and it’s got a lot of heart, and it seems that hamsters are all the rage as a result.  You’ve got Darwin, Blaster, and Juarez – besides these characters there is Mooch the fly and Speckles the Mole.  Together, the group is up to espionage to their paws and ready to save the world from kids’ in the pet stores to appliances rigged with chips to attack.  It’s a blast of fun, and may just make for an adventure-packed party for your child.
