Super Hero Squad Party Ideas

Super Hero Squad Party IdeasSuper Hero Squad is a very popular TV show on the Cartoon Network that showcases many of the favorite super hero characters that kids love: Captain America, Hulk, Iron Man, Falcon, Silver Surfer, Thor, and more.  This cast of characters work together to defeat the villains, which also include some likely characters: Abomination, Dormammu, Dr. Doom, Juggernaut, Loki, Mole Man, Modok, and Enchantress.  These characters are slightly stumpy looking, but embody the characters and kids love their escapades.  If your child loves many of these Super Heroes and can’t decide on just one for a party theme, a Super Hero Squad party theme may just serve as the perfect super theme.

For your party invitation: send the kids an Infinity Sword Invitation. Given that the battle between Dr. Doom and Iron Man shatters the sword, using gray heavy card stock, cut out into sword shapes and write your party details on the swords.  Then, cut the sword up and place into the envelope with instructions to your Super Hero Squad guests to put the sword together to find out the party details.  Also, request that the kids bring their Infinity Sword with them to the party.

Wizards of Waverly Place Party Ideas

Wizards of Waverly Place Party IdeasDisney’s hit show The Wizards of Waverly Place features the Russo family, a seemingly typical family, except the three kids are wizards in training!  The cast of kids includes: Alex (Selena Gomez), older brother Justin (David Henrie), and younger brother Max (Jake T.Austin). Although wizards in training, they aren’t allowed to practice or do their magic unsupervised!  Although often Alex does just that!  This would make an awesome birthday party or Halloween party during the upcoming season given it’s all about spells, magic, and wizardry.  Of course, your child’s party will be supervised, so let the wizard magic begins!

For your party invitation, hand-deliver a cool thematic party invitation with some magic embedded.  Purchase inexpensive magic wands.  Attach a small pouch to one end filled with star confetti and a card with your “Wizard” party details on it.  Request that the kids bring their wands with them for the party.

Phineas and Ferb Party Ideas

Phineas and Ferb Party IdeasPhineas and Ferb is a very popular TV show on the Disney Channel. Are your children fans of the two stepbrothers who will do anything to escape summer boredom? There’s something to their schemes, humor, and pet platypus, Perry — not to mention the other cast of characters like their sister Candace and the mad scientist, Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz.  Phineas and Ferb would make an excellent summer party theme for kids and would also be fun for kids with winter birthdays wanting a taste of summer vacation.  Looking for ideas?

Winter Note: if this is a Phineas and Ferb party in the winter, make it a Swinter Theme and have the kids enjoy sno-cones, snowball fights with fake snow (cotton rolled up in white tight balls), snowman crafts, decorations, and more.  Phineas and Ferb would love a Swinter party.

Amazing Race Party Ideas

shutterstock_27843538My favorite reality TV show is The Amazing Race. Pre-teens and teens will enjoy an adventurous party based on this show. However, it is also an ambitious theme that takes some good organization and planning. Here are some tips on how to approach this party and make it a bit more do-able:

First, invite enough guests to be able to sub-divide them into groups of three or four. You can decide the groups based on the kids’ order of arrival at the party. The first three or four kids can be team #1 and will be the first to leave on the race, the next three or four can be team #2, and so on. It may be a good idea to have an adult supervisor with each of the teams who has a cell phone on hand in case the kids need help.

Project Runway Party

Project Runway PartyIs your child a fan of the hugely popular show Project Runway?  Not only is it creative, but it has to do with a girl’s favorite thing: fashion!  If you are looking for a tween party theme (that would also make an excellent slumber party), find inspiration in having your child and her guests take all that is old and no longer used and revamped into a fashionable piece with your own Project Runway Party.

For your party invitation, take colorful scraps of material and cut it out into different shapes. Using your child’s favorite color of card stock, cut out a runway shaped pieces.  Hole punch the top of this card and thread the scrap material through it.  Write all of the details of your party on to the car, make sure to invite them to (Birthday Child’s Name) Project Runway.  Request that your guests bring something that they no longer wear to the party for them to re-do it into something they will absolutely love to wear.  It’s a challenge for the designers (party guests) to make their old clothes into new ones.  Make it a Project Runway Contest!
