Does your daughter love tea parties and donating to good causes? A perfectly fun idea that also supports good causes is Tea Party Angels with the by-line Girls Helping Girls One Tea Party At A Time.
Tea Party Angels recently launched with a tea party (of course!) with Honorary Angels Christie Brinkley and her daughter, Sailor. Read about what inspired Christie and Sailor to become Honorary Angels on MomLogic too.
Do you find yourself telling your kids this time of year, “You better be good because Santa will know if you’re being naughty or nice!” That’s a favorite tune out of many parents’ mouths this time of year, but your kids may wonder how exactly does Santa know? Thus, the tradition of Elf on a Shelf.
The Elf is around your home (you can move him at will) and he reports to Santa on the daily behavior of the kids back to Santa. It makes this a fun game and motivates the kids to stay nice throughout the season.
Each and every year your children celebrate birthdays and the question that Momversation is asking is Do you feel birthday party pressure? Looking for a healthier birthday cake to serve at your next party? If so, you are in good company as the American Cancer Society (ACS) is too! Recently, ACS held the Taste More Birthdays Cake Contest as a part of its More Birthdays Campaign. Who was involved? The American Culinary Institute of America along with celebrity chef, Duff Goldman, aka Ace of Cakes, who joined in to judge the 5 finalists’ cake creations and select the winner. The contest was all about creating a better-for-you birthday cake that is also the official birthday cake of the American Cancer Society. Cool News!
So, what’s the winning cake? Chef Alexandra Murdy created a better-for-you version of a Red Velvet Cake that cuts back on core ingredients like sugar, eggs, oil, and butter, and adds inventive ingredients into the mix including: roasted beets, dried cherries, applesauce, and whole grain flower. Who wants to give this yummy and beautiful cake a try? I certainly do!
This is a cause near and dear to my heart…providing birthday parties for homeless children! That’t the mission of Birthday Wishes based in Boston, MA. It was great to learn about this organization one Friday night on NBC’s Nightly News Making a Difference segment.
From the site, Birthday Wishes recognizes the importance of a birthday in a child’s life and believes that the gift of a birthday celebration provides normalcy, joy and hope in these children’s otherwise unsettled lives. Currently, Birthday Wishes works with over 75 shelters in MA and Rhode Island and also has a presence in 4 other cities. And the movement is growing!
