An adoption is a special time in a family’s life. When the adoption is finalized, many families mark the occasion with a special celebration. Adoption parties can be enjoyed as any regular kids’ party would be, with or without a theme. Just be sure to take the age of the kids into account when you are planning your celebration.
Simple games, activities, and cake will all work well to mark the occasion. Have your guests bring a special book about family and love to welcome the child.
For this party, I particularly like FamilyFun.com’s confetti cake, although any cake will do. If the adopted child is old enough, ask the child what his or her favorite type of cake is, and make that kind of cake. On the top, write “Happy Adoption Day, _______!” in icing.
