Does your little girl loves to lasso her toy horses or perhaps her real horse? Does she love to eat baked beans from tin cups, and gather around a fire pit to make s’mores and listen to tales of the Wild West? Sounds like you have a cowgirl on your hands … and what a great party to throw!
Typically, we think of “cowboys and indians” with this theme, it is certainly one you can use for your favorite cowgirls, too!
horse party supplies would fit this theme perfectly!
- Send out an invitation in the shape of a cowgirl hat, and use festive language to announce your theme, like, “Howdy Partners, our favorite cowgirl is about to turn ___. Mosey on over and help our little buckaroo celebrate!”
- When the kids arrive (and this is a great party to invite both girls and boys to), have them decorate cowgirl/boy hats.
- Draw mustaches on the boys, hand out red checkered bandanas, and set up an old time photo shoot. Snap a picture with the guests all dressed up with the birthday kid. These can be sent with the thank you notes.
- Make sure to have country music playing in the background. For decorations, choose balloons and streamers in your kid’s favorite colors, and when decorating the party table. A red checkered tablecloth would be an excellent idea. If you can find hay, spread it around the front entrance of the party. Scatter wads of gum on the party table for the guests to chew on.
- Birthday in a Box has great personalized products that fit well in a cowgirl theme.
- Play Pin the Hat on the Cowgirl.
- Play Hot Lasso, just like Hot Potato, but use a rope instead.
- Play Cowgirl Says like Simon Says.
- Play Cowgirl Charades: Each kid takes a turn doing something “western,” and the other kids must guess what it is.
- Reenact a show down. Have an adult volunteer dress up like a cowgirl, and choose one party guest volunteer to have a showdown with her. Stand them back-to-back with one another. Have them count out ten steps and walk away from one another. Blow a whistle, and, on that signal, the two must turn around. Whoever turns around first and yells “Show down!” wins! The kids will love to play this again and again.
- Set up a corral area in your home or backyard where the kids can play together. Place all of your toy and plastic horses in the corral.
- For food, serve hot dogs, baked beans, chips and dips, peanuts, and fruit salad. For a fun drink that is also a sweet treat, serve up root beer floats.
- For favors, send home sheriff badges, whistles, chewing gum, plastic horses, and harmonicas. Place the goodies into plain brown paper bags stamped with horses and cowboy boots.
- Finish off the party by serving a fantastic Cowboy Book cake!
This is a great party that is easy to plan, good for both boys and girls, and is great to organize a shoestring budget!
