Cupcakes are such a favorite treat to serve at kids parties. If you want to make your whole party theme around cupcakes ~ it would certainly work out well!!
I think one of the best activities is to have your party guests decorate cupcakes.
Have the cupcakes baked, but do provide lots of different icings and toppings and candies and the kids can decorate them galore. They will absolutely love doing this!
Have the guests do the Cupcake Alphabet, where guests decorate the cupcakes for each letter of the alphabet.
Provide your guests with little aprons and chef hats that they could get dressed into during the cake decorating. The guests could take the little hat and apron home along with a couple of alphabet cupcakes or…an entire box! You could also personalize bakery boxes …put your child’s name and birth date on the box.
As a craft at the beginning of the party…you could have the kids do a little clip art project. Print out the clip art and have the guests attach their favorite one to a toothpick and use this as a further decoration for the cupcakes they make.
Another idea, that is suitable for most ages, is making a cupcake candle with your guests.
For a centerpiece:
Bake a bunch of cupcakes and frost them and then spell your daughter’s name with icing on the frosted cupcakes. Put them on a cake stand and arrange them spelling her name. Organize the cupcakes on the cake plate in a bouquet and ice the cakes as a big bunch of flowers…this will look fun and festive and keep with the cupcake theme as well.
Of course, you can make cupcakes a part of any party theme that you are doing for your kid’s birthday…but it is also a very good idea as its very own theme.
Happy Cupcakes!
