Cupcake Party Ideas for Kids

So, your little cupcake is about to celebrate a big day. Well, cupcakes are sooo popular these days as a party cake, you could easily make them into the theme of the party!

If this theme appeals, here are some ideas to pull it together:

Decorations:

Balloons, including Mylar balloons in the shape of cupcakes, streamers, and tableware in the colors you have chosen, or in thematic cupcake shapes and designs, are good choices.

This is a great theme for any age.

It is especially good for a first birthday party. The small size makes it perfect for that “first birthday cake” photo-op!

Make streamers out of cupcake liners, hot gluing them together.

Food To Serve:

Any type of food will be suitable, but one additional activity could be having older kids decorate their own cupcakes. Have the cupcakes out and ready to frost and decorate. They can eat these afterwards. Serve brownies, cookies, and tiny fruits in cupcake liners.

Activities:

Besides decorating a bunch of cupcakes, the kids could draw and color pictures of cupcakes, and have their faces painted with little cupcakes. You may want to make a cherry topper (a red pom pom) for the kids to put on their heads and wear at the party.

Have a treasure hunt where the kids must find all of the ingredients to make a cupcake, such as flower, sugar, and eggs. Once the kids have gathered all of their found ingredients, have them decorate the ready-made cupcakes.

Favors:

If you are crafty, you could make a cupcake hat for each of the guests in your party colors as well. If not, you could find a hat with a ball on top that looks like a cupcake.

Make a pretty sugar cookie that looks like a cupcake, place it in a cellophane bag, tie with a silk ribbon, and attach a tag thanking the guests for coming to your party!
