* Gather a group of kids and parents to clean up a beach or park
* Plant a garden in the backyard or public space

Backyard Science Fair
Try this simple trick out to teach your kids about different things in nature.
Mystery Mush Box
* Cut a hole in the side of a shoebox and put gooey things inside like cooked macaroni, slime, and seaweed for all to feel and guess its contents.
Shake It Sounds Box
* Add an offbeat selection of objects such as bells, uncooked rice, or pins into these wooden boxes for all to shake and guess what is making the sound inside
Make Your Own Sand Dune
* Add play sand to a large box and put a small battery-operated handheld fan nearby. Instruct participants to blow the sand with the fan to learn how desert sand dunes are made by the wind.
Magnify Your World
* Offer an assortment of magnifying glasses and see what the backyard really looks like.
