Lulu, Bebe, Izzy, and Debo are the FashionAngelLulu Fashion Angels—dolls who are all into fashion. In fact, Fashion Angels Enterprises is the first toy company to receive a license from the hit show Project Runway! If your daughter is also into fashion or the show, these dolls may not only appeal to her but also be the perfect toys to build a fashion party around. She could even host her own mock Project Runway.

For a Fashion Angels party invitation, purchase inexpensive boas in an array of colors, and attach cards with the party details written on them. Request that the guests bring their boas to the party for a fashion extravaganza. Alternatively, purchase one or two boas and cut them down into smaller pieces. Cut purse-shaped invitations out of heavy card stock, and use a hot glue gun to attach the pieces of feather boa for added glamour.

Decorate your party room to look like the Project Runway studio. Set up a runway and a special carpeted area where the kids will walk during the party. Purchase party balloons, streamers, and tableware in your child’s favorite colors—pearly white, pink, and purple may be excellent options for this party. Set up chairs or a seating area at the bottom of your runway. Additionally, set up different stations (nails, hair, and fashion) where the kids can get glammed up like the Fashion Angels before their own runway walk.

The main activity of this party is the fashion show. The build-up to this activity will take up the rest of the time. As the guests arrive, provide them with wooden frames that they can decorate while they wait for others. Put out beads, glitter, and other craft materials that the guests can use to jazz up their frames. Later, when the children are taking their turns on the runway, take pictures of them and put the pictures in the frames. These can serve as the party favors. Either download the pictures during the party and place them into frames, or have the kids take their frames home and send the pictures in your thank-you notes.

Place white butcher paper on your party walls, and lay out a variety of colored pencils so the kids can make their own fashion sketches and designs.

Once everyone has arrived, have the kids move through the stations to become real-live Fashion Angels. They can give one another manicures in one area, and then move on to doing their hair. The Fashion Angels are known for their gorgeous hair, which is actually wigs. Provide wigs or hair accessories and let the kids do their hair in the latest styles.  Mousse, styling gel, curlers, etc., are also necessities for this room. Finally, the kids can get dressed for the runway. Before the party, go to a local thrift store and gather up different clothes that the kids can get styled-up in, and let them go to town getting ready.

After the kids have become Fashion Angels, let them practice walking the runway. When the final event is about to be revealed, turn on some of the birthday kid’s favorite music, dim the overhead lights, turn a spotlight on the runway, and have the kids walk it! Make sure to take pictures for the favor frames!

After your fashion show, serve a light party menu of fruit kebabs, pink marshmallows, small sandwiches cut out with a purse cookie cutter, yogurt parfaits, strawberry smoothies, and bubblegum ice cream.

For your party favor, have the kids take home their frames, and don’t forget to add the pictures or send them with your thank-you notes soon after the party ends!
