Slumber PartyHere is an excellent idea for kids who may not be quite at the age to have a slumber party. Have a “Faux Slumber Party” instead. Basically, it is the same idea, only shortened so that the kids actually go home to sleep. It allows for this age group to have a slumber party, but not for the entire night. This would be an excellent theme for both boys and girls ages 6 to 8 years old. Generally, the ages of 9-10 is safe for kids to spend the entire night as they are old enough to not become homesick, etc.

To have a Faux Slumber Party, do all of the things that you would have at a typical slumber party, just shortened. As an example, insted of kids getting into their PJs to sleep, have the kids attend the party in their PJs.

Here are some other ideas for your Faux Slumber Party:

  • Have the kids make their dinner, i.e. mini-pizzas, ice cream sundaes, decorating party cookies, make-your-own tacos, etc.
  • Watch videos and/or play video games
  • Have a craft like decorating pillowcases and/or slippers
  • Play flashlight tag (good one if you can be outdoors.)
  • Little girls may enjoy a spa of mini-manicures and pedicures
  • Free play, kids will want to look around your kid’s bedroom and perhaps just play with their favorites. Not all time needs to be planned out.

A Faux Slumber Party is perfect for the party time of 6 pm to 10 pm or 11 pm. This is an extended party time from a more traditional 2 hour time slot and so it is important to schedule in activities that will take a longer time, such as watching a video and having the kids make their own dinners. The time will fly by and the kids will have a blast, without any of the trouble of having them spend the night. All of that fun will come in a few year’s time!

Say It!
