Just a quick little blog to clarify what the “FOR” is for on a party invitation, as many come pre-printed with time, date, place, and “for.”

“For” means what is the event, i.e. if you are having a 3rd birthday party for your toddler, Tommy, then write next to “FOR: Tommy’s 3rd Birthday Party!” It is meant to state the event.
It is a bit confusing as some people may interpret the “For” as to mean “Who the invitation is for,” and put their guest’s name on that line.

Hope that helps!

  2. Hi,
I just wrote an article on holding a first communion party to give you some more ideas:

For centerpieces, I suggest flowers, but you can also use a large cross with balloons tied to it, or a butterfly centerpiece to symbolize new life. You may find some crafty ideas from Oriental Trading Company as well and also Michaels.

For invitations, there are any number of stationary stores where you will be able to find white stationary with gold crosses on them or other communion symbols, or you can make your own with card stock. You could take a picture of your son and place on the front of the card, along with a cross, and inside the card relate the details to your guests.

    Good Luck!
