If you are looking for a lovely holiday gathering for your kids this season and don’t want to spend a fortune on the party or spend a lot of time preparing, why not host a holiday tea?
- Invitations. Using cardstock in a variety of holiday colors, cut out teapot shapes and place all of the details on one side of the invitation.
- Decorations. You won’t need many decorations, outside of putting together a festive table with cups and saucers, linens, perhaps a centerpiece of flowers or candles, and small plates.
- Drinks. Serve hot cocoa, fruit tea, spiced apple cider or any other drink you think would be enjoyed. Take into consideration the kids’ ages.
- Food. Serve holiday cookies, cakes, and candies as the treats. There is no need to make a full course menu of food.
- Favors. As a take home goody, wrap up some holiday treats in red or green cellophane for the kids to take home.
- Activities. During the tea, read Christmas stories
to the kids or have them tell their own. Discuss their family’s holiday traditions and plans for the season. Another topic, what is their favorite part of the season? What is on their gift list?
- Sing a round of holiday carols together after the tea. You can use old favorites that everyone knows, or teach some new ones.
On a very small budget and with minimum time planning, the kids will have a blast sipping their special drinks, discussing the holidays, hearing holiday tales, and singing carols. Enjoy this easy holiday gathering with your kids.
