Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs will be in theaters this summer, the third movie in the Ice Age saga. This is always loads of fun with all of the characters back including Scrat (looking for and finally finding his nut!), Manny and Ellie the wooly Mammoths, Crash and Eddie the Opposums, Sid the Megalonyx, and Diego the Smilodon. We find some new characters are introduced in this movie too, a companion squirrel for Scrat, named Scratte, and a new baby wooly mammoth for Manny and Ellie, and then, of course, the dinosaurs, including a monstrous T-Rex! Kids are always fascinated with dinosaurs and they provide great inspiration for a party theme, but you could also include the Ice Age crew to your next dinosaur party to make it even more fun, especially if your kids love this movie and these characters.
For your Ice Age Dinosaur Party, find party ideas here in addition to the Dinosaur Party Ideas:
Celebrate Express has fantastic Ice Age 3 party ware.
Gather up acorn nuts to hand-deliver as part of your party invitation, and attach a card to the nut providing the Ice Age party details on it. Request that the guests bring their nuts with them to the party.
In addition to your dinosaur decorations, create an Ice Age glacier affect using multiple colors of balloons in various shades of blue on the party ceiling and on the party floor. Place a clear plastic table cover over the balloons to give another glacial affect.
On your party table, layer the table with different blue table covers, scatter nuts across the table, and place crayons for the kids to draw on plain blue napkins the ice age characters.
For a table centerpiece, place a large bowl of blue gelatin filled with gummy dinosaurs. A sweet party treat and festive centerpiece.
When the kids arrive to the party, give each one an Ice Age character name that they must stay in throughout the party.
Hang a large piece of butcher paper on a party wall or have it laid out on a table, and have the kids create prehistoric caveman drawings. After everyone has contributed, hand the paper as an additional party decoration.
Play Pin the Ears on the Wooly Mammoth.
Host a Nut Scavenger Hunt. Hide nuts all over the party area, give the kids two minutes to find as many as they can.
Play Ice Age Trivia, e.g. who said what, who’s the character, etc. Watch a clip of one of the earlier movies.
Make an easy Ice Age Glacier Cake too.
Amazon has a nice selection of Ice Age items, both for the party, and for gifts for that Ice Age fan at home.
Finally, send the kids home with a small paper mache egg filled with small Ice Age figures.
