landofthelost1Land of the Lost was an absolute favorite TV show of mine growing up in the 1970s. After school the adventures the cast of characters faced in the Land of the Lost always kept me tuning in.  How fun is it that this summer a new movie based on this popular TV show comes to life for parents and children alike? Starring Will Ferrell, the Land of the Lost movie is full of bugs, dinosaurs, cavemen, and more fun that kids love!

This would be an excellent family party for both kids and adults this summer. What’s the inspiration for ideas? Take a look at Bug Party ideas and Dinosaur Party ideas too. You can also find some more Land of the Lost party ideas here too:

1. Will Ferrell finds himself running away from the T-Rex in serpentine moves. It doesn’t work out too well for him, but have the kids enjoy a series of relay races with similar moves.

2. Find the bugs. Prepare a batch of pasta noodles and place all types of gummy worms and bugs in the noodles. Blindfold the kids and have them use their hands to find the bugs.

3. Once you are in the Land of the Lost how do you return home?  Send the kids on a scavenger hunt to find different navigation tools to help lead them home. Give them 10 minutes to find the following: a notebook, pencil, calculator, map, compass, and any other items that you can think of to help them find their way home. Once they have gathered all of the items, send them to a time machine (a large cardboard box that you have painted and decorated to look like one) and have each person travel back to the present day.

4. Play Sleestak tag. Designate one child to be the first Sleestak. Whomever he tags becomes one until everyone is a Sleestak.  Even better, before you begin the party, have the kids make Sleestak masks with the large black eyes and green slimy skin. Make sure the eye holes are large enough to see through and have the kids wear their masks during the game.

For the adults at this party, some fun ideas are to play the original TV series to bring it all back and also enjoy a Land of the Lost original trivia contest. Who is truly the expert at the party?

You never know, the adults may also enjoy Sleestak Tag too!

This is also a great movie outing this summer for the whole family — it will bring back fun memories for the parents and the kids will love the novelty!

Have fun in the Land of the Lost this summer!

Say It!
