Recently, Manic Mommies, which is a great site run by two Moms, Kristin and Erin, have begun a podcast that is quite down-to-earth and funny. If you have time in your schedule, I would definitely give it a listen.

In particular, this past week, they discussed Birthday Party Ideas. It is a topic on their minds as they have a bunch of kids’ parties coming up. I picked up on a few of their thoughts and wanted to share them with you:

  • Music makes a party!
  • As an alternative to giving presents to the birthday child, pick a favorite charity. In particular, they spotlighted “Smiling Kids” a charity in MA that gives gifts to kids who would not normally receive presents for their birthday. I love this idea.
  • How to run a party so it doesn’t run you.
  • The idea of a “Minimalist” party.
  • A great goody gift item is a CD of the birthday kids’ favorite tunes.
