Help, Help, Depending on the number of kids at your party…you may just need it!
A golden rule for kids parties is to invite the number of kids that match your kids’ age…thus, if your kid is turning 5 invite 5 guests. This generally works quite well for small children who are not yet in school and don’t have to think about the “rest of the class!”
Once you are into those grade school years, if you must or you feel you need to invite the 24 kids in the entire class…make sure to get some help manging the party. Even if you are the most orgnized person in the world, if you have 24 8-year olds in your home for 2 to 3 hours (from start to finish) ~ you’re gonna need help. Perhaps some parents from the class would like to stick around and help you out…cutting the cake, arranging games, getting the kids all seated for entertainment or activities. It really is helpful, and I’m sure if you rattle your brain through the party day, you will find many things that could be eased with some extra help.
You could hire a teenager, perhaps the person who babysits for your kids, for a reasonable price and they could also play this same role. Given their own energy and youth, the teenager may also be very good at entertaining the children while they are into free time and running riot.
Remember this is your kids party…you want to have the video camera out capturing the wonderful day for future memories that you can all look back on and enjoy. That’s key. A little help on the party day will help you to enjoy it with your child!!
