Postman Pat is another excellent UK character for little kids. He is really popular. Why, I even know a Dr. who used to use the “Postman Pat” videos and familiar songs to calm kids in the emergency room who needed a shot, etc. to take their attention away from what was about to happen…and it worked.

If your little one adores Postman Pat, then definitely check out his official site where parents can find “color me” printables for kids to color at the parties, door hangers (that could be given out as a party favor), and games for kids to play as well.

Now, for other party ideas:

Send out a proper postcard invitation to the guests inviting them to enjoy a party in Greendale with Postman Pat.

For the decorations, choose the color theme your kid loves and purchase balloons, streamers, and table ware to match for a festive atmosphere. Also, make Postman Pat characters out of large cardboard boxes. If you are especially creative, it would be fun to have them all over the party area. Play a Postman Pat video and/or music to add to the atmosphere.

When the kids arrive, have them decorate their very own Postman Pat Hat…using white canvas painters hat, have them draw black and white stripes on the cap to match Pat. Or you could have the kids make black and white caps out of paper as well.

For Games:

Out of a large piece of cardboard, cut out several large holes. Decorate the board, and make a bunch of paper letter airplanes, and have the kids throw the planes to get through the holes for a prize.

On the party wall, have lots of envelopes, postcards, letters on the wall. Have the kids pick up the “mail.” Have different numbers on the back of certain pieces of mail…when the kids find a 1 or a 2 or a 3 they receive a prize that correlates to that number.

Play “Pin the Nose on Jess!”

Have a “Postman Pat” dress-up relay race. Divide the kids into two teams, provide Postman Pat clothes and have the kids dress up in the outfit, run to the other side of the race and back, take off the outfit, and the next kid must dress up next, etc. First team that finishes the race, wins!

Have the kids sort a bag full of mail, either by address or type of mail. The team that finishes first, wins!

If you look at the different episodes of the series, you may remember the Pirate one. You could have a “Pirate Treasure Hunt” with your own guests. Have the kids find the “Greendale Cup!” Put together a series of clues, and have the kids find the cup ~ filled with goodies!

Serve your party food in the “Station Cafe.” Make a sign for the kids to gather around for their cake, ice cream, and more.

For a favor, send home a small parcel of goodies with bubbles, little notepad, pencil, stamps, stickers, postcards, etc. A “make your own postcard or letter” goody parcel would be perfect!
