Does your kid have a favorite rock star or band that she would like to incorporate into her next birthday party theme? It could be a band, or one favorite musician artist. I was a huge fan of the Grease soundtrack, and crooned over John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John crooning to each other and with their friends. Now, there would have been an easy party…combined with a 50s theme (like Pink Poodle skirts, )…and there you go.
Today, it could be any current star, but here are some ideas and resources for this theme.
Purchase your Party Like a Rock Star Party Supplies to pull your theme together.
FamilyFun.com has a Battle of Bands Party Plan for some great ideas for the age group of 10 to 13 years old. Check It Out.
For younger kids, here are a few additional Rock ‘n Roll Party Ideas:
- Have the kids come to the party dressed as their favorite artist or as members of a particular band.
- Make a Rock Concert Ticket for the Invitation. Make sure the kids have it on them to gain entrance to the party.
- Play music at the party based on the theme.
- For decorations, hang concert signs all over the party room. Hang old CDs from the ceiling.
- Play Musical Chairs to the songs of the favorite artist/band.
- The kids will be dressed up, but have them accessorize at the party house with make-up. A face painter would be fun.
- Have a mock stage for the kids to perform their favorite songs, even karaoke would be fun with the bands classics that everyone knows.
- As a craft activity, have them make a “Rock Star” frame…using glitter, stars, markers, etc. During performances, take a picture of the kids and put them into the frames as a great goody from the party.
Another Rock Star party idea is to throw an American Idol party.
If this is an idea that appeals, a few particular things to note include:
- Send the invitations out early enough so that the kids can prepare their “American Idol” routine
- A karaoke machine may be quite helpful to bring the concerts alive.
- Remember to have enough volunteers to be the “judges” as well. Kids will love this theme!
A cake should be easy for this party, as cakes are round and so are CDs. Make a CD cake and decorate it with the favorite artist/band album. Or just decorate it with some cake toppers of people dancing! If you want something a bit fancier, try FamilyFun.com’s Boom Box Cake!
Have the kids take home burned CDs of the favorite music, sunglasses, autograph books with a fancy pen.
Rock On!
Say It!
