Give your kids a taste of the wild side with this Safari theme party. This party is a creative idea that can be used year-round, whether you are stuck in snow or by the beach. But since summer is here, you have no excuse not to throw this party!
Decorations
Turn your home or backyard into the Serengeti with our budget-friendly decor ideas:
- Mosquito Netting: Hang mosquito netting around the walls or from lighting fixtures to drape them around the room.
- Citronella Candles and Lanterns: Light up your party with citronella candles to keep the jungle mosquitoes away. You can also place the candles inside mini lanterns set around the party area for authentic safari lighting.
- Safari Critters: The allure of a safari is seeing wildlife up close and personal. Along with the majestic lions and elephants, there are the smaller critters like frogs, snakes, butterflies and lizards. Buy some plastic critters from the store, and use them by:
- Gluing them onto the mosquito netting.
- Sticking suction-cup lizards on the wall as if they’re scuttling around.
- Hanging snakes from lighting fixtures, precariously close to dropping on people’s heads.
- Then scatter a few extra reptiles and butterflies around the food table, and the creepy crawler safari feel is complete!
- Animal Tracks: Use black construction paper to trace outlines of hoof or paw prints, and cut them out to adhere to hardwood or tile floor surfaces and walls. Create trails of different tracks throughout the party, even on the food table.
