Scrapbook Fun

Scrapbooking is huge today…it is a hobby that many adults enjoy when they have time and is certainly something crafty kids will enjoy for hours as well. This is a great idea for a crafty party for kids aged 8 to 13 years old. Also, you can put together a scrapbooking party for any occasion ~ as an example, a simple gathering to battle cabin fever or it would be a wonderful theme for a going away party as the kid moving away will forever have a keepsake from their friends with the scrapbook pages they create together.

Here are some ideas to organize a kids’ scrapbook party:

1. Provide each kid with their own kit of scrapbook materials to use during the party to create their scrapbook pages and to take home to continue the fun on their own. These materials can include an 8×10 album, scissors, glue, stickers, hole punch, etc.
2. After the kids have their materials, explain what scrapbooking is all about, and you can then provide a theme to the kids for their pages if you want. As an example, if this is for a going away party the kids can make a special page for the kid going away with pictures, poems, special sentiments, etc. The page could be about a favorite hobby of theirs as well.
3. If you want to include pictures, ask the kids to bring pictures of themselves that they are willing to use in a scrapbook During the scrapbook party, you could take digital pictures and print them while the kids are working on their pages. Provide these to the group to include in their pages as well.
4. Set up stations with other special materials, i.e. fabric with a glue gun, embellishments, slicer, etc. Make sure to have an adult helper at the stations to help the kids as well.
5. At the end of the time, award prizes for most original, most filled-in pages, brightest page, etc. Make sure each kid is a winner!
6. This party really is easy to put together and can run up to 3 hours or even be a great theme for an overnight party. The kids will really enjoy putting together their pages and working on this for awhile.
