So, what does a kids’ party planner actually do?
Having begun a kids party planning business in 1997 in Washington, DC, I have learned that party planning can entail responsibility for the whole party or just a “piece” of the party. I find that parents are so busy these days…as in all days…and need some help. I am happy to be as helpful as possible to parents and their needs.
Some of the services that a party planner offers to help parents include:
- Choosing and Designing the Theme
- Organizing the invitation list, picking out and/or creating the invitation, sending the invitations, following-up that the invitations have been received, and keeping track of the RSVP list.
- Picking up the decorations and other “stuff” for the party.
- Designing arts and crafts and/or games that relate to the theme
- Recommending an appropriate entertainer for a party and arranging for the entertainer for the party.
- Organizing the cake and other food for the party.
- Setting up the party, whether in someone’s home or at an off-site venue.
- Attending the party, providing the necessary organizational help to keep the party on track and running smoothly, cleaning up the party area afterwards.
I have worked on all these aspects to pull together a perfect party, but often I am asked to simply help with one or two aspects. The most popular request I receive is recommending an appropriate entertainer for their child’s party. Help with invitations and getting party day assistance are also very common requests.
A party planner can help keep you organized and relieve all and/or some of the stress that comes along with planning your next kids’ party for a reasonable fee.
