In a Galaxy Far, Far Away, the Force is with You! Can’t you just feel it? It’s a truly classic movie, not only the trilogy from the 70s, but the more recent one as well has spawned a whole new interested generation in this galactic epic! With characters like Luke Skywaker, Yoda, and Darth Vader…it’s not a surprise that kids may be asking you for this party.
If you are looking for ideas beyond donning the kids with light sabers, check out the ideas below:
First check out the official Star Wars’ site where you will find lots of ideas for crafts and projects and other game ideas that will be loads of fun.
Make your own Light Sabers, using pool noodles and having the kids choose different colors of duct tape to cover the ends of their Sabers. Write the names of the kids on the Sabers so each guest knows which one is theirs.
Play “Keep Up The Meteor” ~ blow up a bunch of balloons, turn on the Star Wars’ music, and have the kids keep the balloons off the ground with their Light Sabers.
Play “Destroy the Death Star” which is similar to “Pin the Tail on the Donkey.” Make a picture of a Death Star and print out small pictures of Luke’s X-Wing. Have the kids place their X-Wing onto the Death Star. The one closest to the center of the Star, wins!
Play “Yoda Says” for some Jedi Training.
Set up a Jedi Obstacle course that the kids have to complete in order to complete their training. You can make this out of everyday household items, crawling under tables, through hula hoops, under tables, stepping on pre-made meteors (cardboard boxes wrapped in tin foil), etc.
Play “Yoda/Vader” similar to “Red Light/Green Light”, have a green light saber to represent Yoda and “Go” and a red light saber to represent Vader and “Stop.” Line the kids up and hold either green or red light saber up for the kids to go or stop. If one of the kids continues to “go” when the Red Saber is up, everyone has to start all over again.
Play “Save Princess Leia.” Place a picture of the Princess in one of the balloons that you blow up. Tell the kids that Princess Leia has been taken into one of the balloons, and it is up to the kids to work together to find her.
Have an adult dress up as Vader, with a mask, cape, and his own light saber. Have the kids battle as Jedi Knights with Vader. It may get rowdy, but the kids will love this!!
Have a “Meteor Hunt” where you wrap small, thematic prizes in aluminum foil. Hide them throughout the party room and have the kids find them.
At the end of the party, provide the kids with Jedi Certificates.
