A strawberry-themed birthday party could go either one of two different ways…you could enjoy a fruit-inspired sensational event or an actual “Strawberry Shortcake” character party.
If you are looking to do the former, here are some ideas for your berry extravaganza:
Make the invitation with white card stock and then a put of basket strawberries on the front. Using construction paper, you can cut out a brown baskets and red strawberries and put them on the front of the invitation. Inside the invite, include all of your party details. Something like, “Our little strawberry is about to turn one!”
Use a red and white party ware color theme…you can mix and match the colors for the tablecloth, cups, napkins, etc. Also, make sure to have the same color scheme for the balloons and streamers for the party room. If you can find a Mylar balloon in the shape of a strawberry, use it to decorate the birthday kid’s chair.
If you are interested in doing this at an outside venue, then a strawberry-picking excursion would be ideal. The party guests could meet at a local pick-your-own farm and enjoy picking the berries together. The farm could probably make arrangements for you to host the party at their venue. This would be unique. Set up the party as a picnic, and bring the balloons to mark off your party area.
Have a face painter on hand to paint a strawberry on the kids’ faces as they arrive.
As crafts, have them color and/or draw strawberries and post them all over the party room.
Purchase mini- strawberry seeds and little terra cotta pots. Have the kids decorate the pots with strawberries and then plant their little seeds as well.
Have a “Strawberry Bean Bag Toss” into large flower pots.
Play “Strawberry, Strawberry, Gooseberry.”
Enjoy a Strawberry Eating Contest.
Have a Strawberry Relay Race, provide spoons and strawberries and have the kids race up & down the relay path.
Have a large bowl of strawberries displayed and have the kids guess how many are in the bowl.
Chocolate-dipped strawberries will be a wonderful treat at this party. Have lovely strawberries available with melted chocolate. Have the kids make them right at the party.
For the menu, serve fruit skewers, chocolate-dipped fruit, red punch, strawberry milkshakes, strawberry jam sandwiches, strawberry shortcake, and “Creamy Cones,” provide ice cream cones to each kid and shipped cream…have them fill their cones with whipped cream and lots of toppings, i.e. chocolate, gum drops, sliced fruit, nuts…they will enjoy their concoctions!
For the drinks, freeze strawberries in the ice cubes.
Strawberry cupcakes would be wonderful party cake, iced with white creamy frosting, and topped with strawberries.
For the goody bags, buy little red buckets and fill it with strawberry stickers, strawberry flavored lip gloss, red plastic sunglasses, strawberry gummy candies, strawberry scented bubble bath, etc.
