Dave's Teddy Bear CakeA teddy bears’ picnic is not only a great birthday party idea, but also a great theme for any day! So, if you are looking to have a special outing for your kid, a teddy bear picnic may just be the ticket. Pack a lunch, invite some of your kids’ friends and their bears, and head outside for a charming day.

Here are some tips for your picnic:

Sit in a circle and have the kids hold their teddy bears on their laps.

Read the book Teddy Bears’ Picnic by Jimmy Kennedy.

Sing the “Teddy Bears’ Picnic” song.

Have each kid introduce his or her bear and tell everyone why the bear is so special!

Take two hula hoops along and have a sorting contest: have the kids decide how their bears are similar and different and sort them into the hula hoops. They can sort them by size, color, etc.

Play Hide and Go Seek with the teddy bears.

Bring large pieces of cardboard and markers, and have the kids draw outlines of their bears onto the cardboard. They can decorate them and cut them out to take home.

Serve a special and simple snack of bread cut into bear shapes and spread with honey. Also serve Teddy Graham crackers and apple juice. Top the picnic off with a sweet teddy bear cake!
