I admit that I had a Garfield stuffed animal as a kid, and my little brother had an Odie. It’s cool to see my childhood’s favorite character’s come back to life on the big screen for today’s kids to enjoy.

Garfield is still a lazy, fat cat who wants nothng more than to eat 1000s of calories of lasagna each and every day, take a good nap, have a good dig at John, his owner, and watch a confused Odie running around looking stupid.

In this summer’s latest Garfield flick, “Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties,” Garfield takes London by storm with his family. Fortunately, Garfield is mistaken as a grand cat who has inherited a large castle. In true style, Garfield takes to his new abode and royal splendor with quick ease, but what if the truth is revealed? Then what?

So, if you are thinking about a Garfield theme, here are some party ideas:

  • Serve Lasagna of course!
  • Make a special Garfield collar as a craft.
  • Have the kids enjoy a Garfield and Odie Relay Race. Have Odie run and Garfield must catch up and tag Odie for fun.
  • Face paint a little Garfield onto the kids’ faces.
  • Have kids look for Odie. Set out a Treasure Hunt for his friend, and have them find dog snacks along the way as a clue that they are on the right path.
  • Play “Pin the Tail on Garfield.”
  • Serve Orange Koolade as a festive drink. At the Pop Rocks too!
  • Since Pooky, Garfield’s Teddy is his favorite, you could have gummmy bears, Teddy Grahams, and Claws all as additional treats for the party.
  • As a goody bag, send home a little Odie and/or Garfield key ring, bouncing ball, bubbles, gummy bears, Garfield pencils, erasers, and notepads, with the collar they made at the party.
  • Garfield is a lazy cat, and so if you pop in the first movie while the party is going on, the kids may enjoy watching this as well.
  • Have several Garfield comic books lying around to enjoy. Kids can also create their own comic as well.

Garfield Gatravaganza!
