The Art of Saying Thanks…

So, the guests have left, your party was a true success with your birthday kid feeling special and happy…the big day is over.

You may have decided to open the presents during the party, or to save them for a private opening without friends around. Either way is perfectly acceptable.

I would say that there is one more thing to do…don’t forget the thank you notes. In our day, is it really so “unnecessary” to say thanks? I can even relate that I attended a wedding recently, and at my place setting was a perfume sample and a little note saying thanks from the bride and groom. Was this really my thank you note for the “above average” gift we had chosen for this couple? We didn’t get the feeling that the couple got my gift and acknowledged it personally. It was below par in my opinion…but that is the day and age we live in.

I wonder if that groom and bride ever were made to write a thank you note as children, and were taught the value of expressing appreciation for gifts given to them? Probably not…but I would highly encourage all parents to sit down with their child after the party and write notes of thanks. It will be a lesson and a value instilled in them in a fun and easy way…as the birthday kid who has just gotten a bunch of gifts to express appreciation and thanks!

Saying thanks is always in vogue and fashionable in my opinion…I hope that all parents will add writing Thank You notes on their “things to do” party checklist.
