I’ve been a professional full time children’s entertainer for over 20 years. I would like to provide some advice on choosing the best entertainer for your event at the most reasonable rate. The old saying “You get what you pay for!” holds true when choosing entertainment for your event.
First, you should do some simple research using the Internet. Check out the entertainer’s website and look at photo’s, articles, biography, real customer feedback, and make sure to talk with the performer himself. Also, use a search engine to find other details about the performer. If you don’t find much, that should tell you something.
Your money is valuable so you should know who you are hiring. Many discount entertainment agencies use free ad websites looking for students, day care workers and volunteers that want to make extra cash. They put them through a crash course learning simple skills. The agencies pay them a minimal amount yet still charge the consumer top dollar for a beginner. Entertaining children and performing a funny show requires years to master. Most performers that provide this type of high quality entertainment do this as a full time living.
Being an entertainer is a calling and not something everyone can do. If you are choosing between a professional performer that has years of experience with a good website and good references or between a beginner that is charging a few dollars less, I recommend you hire the professional entertainer. If you can’t afford their price don’t be afraid to negotiate a price with them that is within your budget.
