What a very unique and great theme for all those aspiring veterinarians out there! To make it a little easier to plan, I would highly suggest moving it out to being an animal party of some sort as well…something like a Puppy/Doggie Party, and have these general animal ideas interspersed with vet activities.

Here are some suggestions:

Request that the guests bring a stuffed animal to the party. When they arrive, have your birthday kid ask each guest what is the ailment of the animal…hand out Band-Aid, stethoscopes, etc. for a “formal” investigation into the stuffed animal’s health. It will be a fun, and as the kids arrive they will be discussing this and taking a “check up.”

You could have a relay race where the kids must dress up as a vet in a white coat, stethoscope, etc. and have them run to the other end with a roll of toilet paper. They must bandage their animal up and then return, take off the outfit and the next person does the same until everyone is done. First team finished wins!

You could make animal sugar cookies and have the kids decorate them. Make sure they decorate their animals with a few boo boos.

Discuss what a veterinarian does. You could even make a game out of it, like true or false…kids could act out the differences between what a vet does and other doctors do…in this way the games are both fun and educational.

As a goody, you could purchase clear plastic cases, and fill it with little vet items, i.e. sugar pills, i.e sugar cubes, little stuffed animals, bandages, medical tape, etc. It will be cute and memorable!
