It may be cold where you are, even snowy! If you are looking for inexpensive ways for your kids to have some fun during this indoor season …
Check out these ideas:
Take a shallow box and fill it with oatmeal. Let the kids play with it using measuring cups, spoons, bowls, etc. They will have a lot of fun with this simple activity. When they are done playing, throw the oats away and move on with the day!
If it is snowy outdoors, fill a plastic basket of snow and bring it inside. The snow will stay intact for a while, and you can give the kids cookie cutters, spoons, and cups to play with and make shapes. It will serve as lots of fun for the kids, and when the snow is melted or the kids become bored, simply dump what’s left outside. This is an especially good idea if it really is too cold for the kids to play outdoors. For areas with nasty weather but no snow, consider buying some fake snow. You can do all of the activities above, and kids love ANY snow.

Build an indoor fort! Get out blankets and pillows, and be open to rearranging the furniture so the kids can build their fort. They can hide and play in it during the day. Once they are safe in their hideaway, serve them lunch in their fort!
Make cookie concoctions!
Enjoy a Winter treasure hunt!
