Happy Birthday, Peppers and Pollywogs!
cakeThis month we celebrate our very first birthday and we want to say thanks to you for all of your support during our first year.

Your questions, feedback, and enthusiasm have contributed tremendously to seeing us to this milestone!

surfWe know that each year, you are hosting wonderful parties for your kids.  Today, we are launching our Share-an-Idea Challenge. Come to our forums and share your fabulous party ideas!

You can write about your party, and also upload your party pictures.  Each month, the community will rate your party ideas.  The best one, as voted by other parents, will win a gift certificate to either Amazon or Plum Party ~ winner chooses!

We look forward to receiving your submissions!  And tell your friends about it. All kids' party ideas are welcome.
Year of the Boar
surfThis month, the Chinese will celebrate and welcome in the New Year of the Boar!  The Year of the Boar is known as one of benevolence, great courage and integrity. Use red construction paper and invite your kids’ friends to a Chinese New Year celebration.

At each place setting, have a small red envelope with coins inside, a traditional gift given at the Chinese New Year, and have them take it home as a goody.

Serve dumplings, egg rolls, orange slices and fruit-flavored ice cream. [more...]
Mardi Gras
“Fat Tuesday”  is a celebration of feasting and celebrating just before Lent is ushered in for 40 days of “self denial” leading up to Easter.  It is time to march in parades, eat pancakes, donuts, and other treats, to sing and dance and generally celebrate the good times.

Have the kids come to your home in costumes for a parade or ask them to dress in the traditional colors of purple (justice), green (faith), and gold (power). Have the kids make masks or have face-painting available before heading out on the parade.

You can serve jambalaya and jumbo shrimp. Make green or purple milk using food coloring with King’s Cake. [more...]
Cookie Cutters … Idea Creators!
surfComing up with a theme is the hardest piece of party planning, especially when your child is so young they can't tell you what they want. If this is the case, check out the cookie cutter aisle.

There are so many different types of cookie cutters from numbers to shapes to letters to animals and beyond. The cookie cutter can also cut out all of your sandwiches, fruit, and cookies to fit your theme and build your party menu.
Mall Scavenger Hunt
cakeA mall scavenger-hunt is a fantastic party idea for a 13 year old’s party. Divide into two teams so that kids can work together to find stuff.  Give them a set amount of money, and then provide the clues. Tell the kids to not let the items be junky as these will be the goodies that are taken home.

You could also give the kids a list of things that are free in the shops - a business card or a plastic bag from the store. Best of all, for the parents, you can enjoy your coffee at Starbucks throughout the entire party! [more…]
