Springtime in Paris party theme
Perhaps your kid is learning French too, or simply loves everything
elegant and chic. Why not throw a Springtime in Paris Party? It will be
a passport to fun that is unique and different, and focuses on a
different country. This is a great party for grade-school kids, ages
7-11.
For the invitations, send an invite that is in the shape of a plane
ticket to Paris and a small passport page that needs to be stamped upon
their arrival to the party. Invite the guests to "Walk the Runway" of
the fashion house, Louis Vuitton.
For decorations, make it very chic with streamers, balloons, and party ware.
For the menu, serve small French pastries, i.e. Petit Fours,
croissants, brioche, cheese and cracker platter, crudite (veggies) with
a dip, chocolate dipped strawberries, etc. Also, pink fizzy punch in
plastic wine glasses would be fun.

Chick-A-Dee Chic
With Easter and Spring right around the corner, you may be looking for
alternatives to celebrating with bunnies. If so, another darling animal
to build your theme around is the Chick!
- Make your colors different shades of yellow for balloons, streamers, and table ware.
- Also, decorate by putting feathers all over the party table.
- Make some Easter Egg Chicks.
- Have the kids paint T-shirts with little yellow chicks on them to take home.
- Give the kids Peep Chicks for a treat. If you are feeling especially creative, check out the Peeps' Website for really fun recipes and crafts.

From Our Sponsor - A Jungle Party
Welcome to the jungle! February is a great time for this fun indoor
party theme! Try some of these ideas for a safari party your children
will love, or check out the complete Jungle Party Guide at Birthday in a Box.
Decorating Place large potted plants in
the party area to start creating your jungle atmosphere! Borrow from
friends and neighbors if you need more. Perch large stuffed animals at
the base of each plant. Then, hang mosquito netting above the table and
attach several large plastic bugs from a craft store or your child's
toy box. Arrange a safari hat, binoculars, and a large bunch of bananas
in the middle of the party table to create a centerpiece. Use plates,
cups and other party supplies featuring a jungle pattern.
Food Serve bowls of animal
crackers, of course! Then, add a tray of cut fruit such as bananas,
melon balls, and apples, and serve a sweet dip in a hollowed out
melon. Round out your menu with chicken tenders and pretzels. Serve
crispy rice treats cut in animal shapes using cookie cutters, and add
mini chocolate chip eyes.
Party Activities
Animal Safari - Send your guests on a make-believe
safari in search of wild animals! It's their job to find the animals
hidden in the jungle, which can be set up in your yard or in one or two
rooms of your house. Before the party, hide inexpensive plastic animals
in the game area. Be creative and hide some in trees, house plants,
sofa cushions and on shelves. At the party, hand each guest a bag to
collect any animals they find hidden in the jungle. Visit Birthday in a
Box for more fun and easy jungle games and activities!

| Cute As A Button
Someone recently came up with "Cute As A Button" for her little
girl's first birthday party. It is a cute theme, and if you are having
some older kids attend the party, there are a few crafts you can make
with the kids to keep with the theme.
Have the kids make a button bracelet using string
and an array of different buttons. Tie the ends together and have the
kids wear their button bracelets througout the party. There are a host of other button crafts that may be found at the site Artists Helping Children.
No matter the age of kids who will be attending, there are a bunch of
related button activities that will keep everyone busy with this theme.
The kids can take home their button crafts as a goody. You may also
want to fill little jars with an array of bright, coloful buttons for
the kids to take home. With a marker, write "Cute As A Button," and
write the date and the birthday kid's name. Children will enjoy the
colorful jar.
Do be careful with small kids, as they may want to eat the buttons. In this case, the activities should be well-supervised.

Trend Watch: ECHOAge
The issue of "No Gifts" on kids' party invitations is wrought with
conundrums today. Some people listen and don't bring gifts; while
others can't bear the thought of NOT bringing a
gift. Throw in the idea of philanthropic giving to kids' party gifts
and the situation become that much more complicated.
The hard part: people want to do good and respect parent's wishes, but they also want to stick with tradition - which says you bring gifts to kids' parties.
If you have struggled with this or are struggling, a brilliant solution has been born called ECHOage.
The brain child of founders Debbie Zinman and Alison Smith, they have
created a site where not only is your whole invitation/RSVP process
managed in a smart way via e-invitations and a RSVP tracker that not
only notes if someone will be attending, but also if there are
allergies or any other special needs for the guest at the party, but
they have come up with a brilliant idea to handle gifts.
