Halloween parties are often a time for family fun, and are not exclusive to adults or to kids. So, when considering gathering your ghouls and ghosts together, both young and old, keep these etiquette tips in mind.

Two Quick, Spooky Invitations

A spooky severed-finger invitation or a less scary spider web invitation are creative and budget-friendly invitation ideas to get your guests excited about your party.

Take a severed finger candle.  Cut out a small card on orange card stock and fold it over. Punch a hole at the top left hand corner, and feed through an orange ribbon to attach the card to the creepy finger. Inside your card provide all of the party details. Your guests will be filled with chills upon seeing the severed finger candle ot the creepy spider web. This is also available on PPTV. [more...]
Sponsor Tip: Frightfully Fun Halloween Ideas

Don't go "batty" trying to throw a Halloween party! Use these fun decorating, food, activity, and favor ideas to plan a great "ghostly" event that your little goblins will love, or check out Birthday in a Box's Halloween Classroom Party Guide for fun school party ideas.

Decorations:

Cut bat shapes from black construction paper, and hang them from the ceiling. Draw ghost faces on white balloons and jack-o-lantern faces on orange balloons; cluster them in groups of five, and anchor them throughout the party space. You can also hang twists of black, orange and white streamers along the walls, or in curtains across the doorways.

If you've prepared a special Halloween cake, set it in the middle of the party table as your centerpiece. Or, decorate the table with a black cloth, and cluster little pumpkins in the middle. For the final touch, use plates, cups, and other party supplies featuring a Halloween pattern.

Food:

Make Witch's Brew Punch by mixing ginger ale or lemonade with blue Kool-Aid. For added effect, freeze gummy worms and ginger ale in ice cube trays, and float one cube in each glass. Serve the drinks along with bowls of Monster Munch, made by adding candy corn to a cereal snack mix.

Create a special treat by decorating a 9" x 13" cake with chocolate icing, marshmallow ghosts and candy pumpkins. For the ghosts, pipe black frosting eyes and oval mouths on large marshmallows, and set them on the cake in groups of two or three. If desired, you can also press oval cookies into the cake to create tombstones.

Crafts:

As a fun icebreaker activity, set out small paper cups of frosting and sprinkles and pre-baked sugar cookies in Halloween shapes, and let the children decorate their own cookies. Then, give the children white lunch bags, markers or crayons, and Halloween stickers, and have them decorate their own favor bags. For added fun, give each child a small pumpkin, and let them draw on jack-o-lantern faces with markers. They can also attach curling ribbon to the stems and let it curl down the sides of the pumpkins as hair. View More Fun & Easy Halloween Activites

Favors:

Wrap up the party with spooky Halloween favors. Choose glow-in-the-dark toys, Halloween stickers and, of course, candy! View More Halloween Party Favors

Budget Halloween Decorations

If you are looking to decorate your own abode this season, but you want to stick within a friendly budget... here's how you can use everyday items to create spooky Halloween decorations for your home, your Halloween party...and beyond!

Construction Paper: Use construction paper to create ghosts, pumpkins, bats, spiders, and other spooky creatures.

Balloons: Blow up balloons, place material, such as a small white sheet over the balloon, tie the neck with a string, and use a black marker for a ghostly face.

Cardboard Boxes
: Either place the victim in a chair on the front porch or sitting under a tree in the front yard. You can make a graveyard out of your front yard by using old cardboard appliance boxes.

Spider Web: A spider web that you buy at your local drugstore will go a long way in decorating any corner area of your home and/or front porch. They often come with some plastic spiders as well for further decorations. [more...]

Festive goodies that match the spooky atmosphere can be quite easy and quick and doesn't need to take a lot of time or money. Use pumpkin, witch, and bat cookie cutters for a quick festive treat.

These cookie cutters can also be used to cut out spooky sandwiches as well...fill the sandwiches with blackberry jam and cream cheese. Add chocolate chips for eyes! Serve each kid a Monster Hand. You can also provide a spooky name for everyday foods - like "baked skeleton bones" for pretzel sticks. [more...]
